This video of these lively mitochondria was performed using a mix between fluorescence microscopy and differential interference microscopy (DIC). The flourescence and DIC channels were imaged simultaneously usings separate dectectors in separate light paths.
This video was obtained on a stereo-microscope with a color camera. The culture was backlight using oblique illumination technique. This heart had been kept alive in culture for greater than 24 hours before imaging.

Imaris was used to complete the rendering. Imaging was performed on a point scanning confocal microscope.
